The other day, I wanted to create an eye shadow look using shades inspired by the autumn season. My goal was to keep it soft and subtle, suitable for everyday wear. After experimenting with various color combinations on the back of my hand, I came up with this Soft Fall Themed Eyeshadow Look.
I’m delighted with how this eye makeup look came out in the end. It uses beautiful warm tones with a really easy application process. This look is very much soft glam and isn’t exactly natural; it’s just on the subtle side. I’ll start our post off here with a complete video demonstration on how to create this fall makeup look above. I will list all the products I used below as well as other details.
Products Used
For my brows, I filled them in using the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pomade in shade Granite. This is one of my favorite brow products. I’ve noticed that many brow-filling products tend to lean more towards warm tones, which don’t always match my brow hairs as well. However, this one is almost a perfect match to my hair. making the faux hair strokes look even more realistic. I used an angled brush with some hair spray in it to draw in faux hair strokes. I’ll link a tutorial of what I mean here.
To prep my eyelids for eyeshadow, I used the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I prefer to let this dry down a bit before applying my shadow or pat a little translucent powder on top to reduce some of the tackiness for easier blending.
Colourpop Wanna be Palette
The Colourpop Wanna be Palette is on the affordable side and offers some really pretty colors that all work well together. It features honey or bee-themed warm neutrals to create a nice variety of looks. I love these colors for soft fall eye looks, or even soft summer looks, as it’s very versatile. My favorite shade in the palette is “To Bee”, which is a gorgeous shade of yellow. It’s the one I featured in the inner corner of today’s look.
Natasha Denona Retro Palette
This palette is on the pricier side, but is very versatile. It includes 15 shades, with some soft pinks and mauves for a subtle, natural look, and darker shades for bolder, dramatic eye look. With a nice mix of matte and shimmer, as well as different textured formulas, there is a nice variety to choose from. I really enjoy the performance of the Natasha Denona shadows, as they are very pigmented and easy to blend. Some of the shades do have a bit of fallout depending on which shade you are using. I typically try and make sure to tap off an excess powder from my brush or apply my eye makeup first if I’m going to apply a smoky eyes look.
For lashes, I used the Milani Highly Rated Lash Extensions Mascara with a light coat on my upper and lower lashes. I do this to ensure my natural lashes are as dark as my false lashes. Next, I applied the lashes in Velour lashes in style First Love. I have an affiliate code for Velour, which is Ashley20 for 20% off. I glued them on the underside of my lashes in my video, but this is just personal preference; apply them however you like, Or simply wear the mascara alone 🙂
As I mentioned in my YouTube video, I forgot to apply the inner corner wing to this look. For a quick tutorial on how I draw on an inner corner wing, check out this ‘How to Apply Inner Corner Winged Eyeliner‘ post. However, for today’s eye tutorial, I did remember to apply it. I used the Maven beauty Sangria liner, which has a brush tip. Nonetheless, I prefer using this spotter brush from the craft store to draw it on. I wanted to have a little bit more control over the product so I could apply a very thin line for this look.
Styling This Eye Look
I liked this soft fall themed eyeshadow look so much that I actually wore it more than once last week. I believe it made my brown eyes pop, as warm tones and earthy shades are some of my favorites to wear. I styled the look with one of my recent favorite lipstick shades, the Clinique Almost Lipstick in shade Black Honey.
While searching and coming across this shade, I read this is the color they applied on Arwen in the Lord of the Rings films. It’s the perfect shade for a nice rosy lip color. It’s not super pigmented; however, it’s a tint-type of color. It’s also super comfortable on the lips, with almost a balm-like texture, which is perfect for this time of year as it starts to get colder here in New England.
For the rest of the look, I tried out this Tom Ford Soft Radiance Foundation for the first time. I found such a good deal on it at my local outlet store. I will create a whole YouTube video and post about this in the future. On my cheeks, I used Too Faced candy clouds blush, and Ginger Bread Tan Spicy Bronzer(which is older and no longer available). I loved how these look together.
I also tried out the new Huda Beauty Easy Bake and Snatch Powder Cherry Blossom Cake, which I really enjoyed. I’ve always liked the regular easy bake powder; however, I felt sometimes it would get messy trying to get more powder out of the container. I used a powder puff to gently press the product into the skin. Sometimes I use more of the loose powder to bake, but my skin tends to be dry this time of year, so I usually leave this step out.
I hope you enjoyed this Soft Fall Themed Eyeshadow Look. Let me know if you do give it a try! Check out this list I created, ‘Thanksgiving Makeup Ideas Including Video How to Tutorials‘ to check out. These looks are not just for Thanksgiving and can be applied any time of year. I just find that most of them are very fitting for the fall season. Thanks for stopping by and reading 🙂
