It’s that time of year where summer comes to a close, and the fall season is right around the corner. With that comes the first half of the holiday season. First we have Halloween where you really get to ramp up the crazy makeup looks, followed by Thanksgiving. When you get to see loved ones or friends you maybe haven’t seen in awhile. Need some thanksgiving makeup ideas?
I’ve compiled some of my favorite long-wear products and tips. As well as some easy thanksgiving makeup ideas that I hope you love! It’s a little bit of everything wether your looking for a bold makeup look, or a minimal makeup look I think I may have something you’ll enjoy.
Makeup to Last All Day
First, let’s talk about some of my favorite products that increase the staying power of my makeup, when wearing it for long periods of time. I always like to start my makeup with a clean face and skincare applied in smooth thin coats. I like giving the products a chance to soak in so the makeup doesn’t slide around.
If i’m wearing makeup for most the day, I often go in with a primer first. One I enjoy using is the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Primer Moisturizer. Everyones skin is different, what works for me may not work the same for you. You may have something that works best already use what you know.
For foundation I find that matte and natural finished products tend to stay longer for me as they often dry down a bit. One of my favorites is the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care & Glow Foundation, which has a natural finish. I’ve also heard people love the Teint Idole Ultra 24H Long Wear Matte also.
When it comes to blush and bronzer. I find it stays on the longest when I place a cream product first, then set with a powder bronzer and blush. On the topic of powders, my personal favorite setting powder is Givenchy Prisme Libre Loose Setting and Finishing Powder. I love how it looks on the skin.
For eye makeup prep, my lids tend to crease towards the end of the day. When I’m looking for stay power, I like the Urban Decay Primer potion as a base. To finish the look, I think the easiest way to get your makeup to last is a setting spray. I love the Urban Decay all nighter setting spray. Urban Decay also have a travel size that is great for on the go. A drugstore setting spray I’ve recently been loving for a dewy finish. Is the Milani Make it Dewy Setting Spray.
Ombre Liner Eyeshadow Look
This eye look here is one of my favorite looks I’ve created for this time of year, an ombre winged eyeliner look using fall colors. The eyes are the star of the show with this look. To keep it simple, you can wear a simple gloss or even a chapstick. I think a nice nude lip would look super cute. The Maybelline Vinyl 120 punchy lipstick would look great, and lasts long.
Although this does look a little bit on the complicated side, it’s rather easy to complete. What makes this easy is placing a piece of tape following the angle of the lower lash line as a guide for my wing. (place the tape on the back of your hand first to remove some of the stick). Tape makes it much easier to place your 3 colors, you just lightly blend at the transitions. I recommend using a thin small brush for this, allowing you to be detailed with it. I’ve included a video tutorial of the look here for reference 🙂
Comfortable Lip Looks
Since we just went over a look about the eyes, let’s talk about a simple comfortable lip color solution to last through thanksgiving dinner. I love a beautiful lip stain, it’s an easy way to get an effortless look that lasts a long while. One lip stain I enjoyed recently is the Huda Beauty Lip Blush Cream Lip & Cheek Stain. 5 color options are available, and can be applied on the cheeks as well. Lip stains are great if you live somewhere with cold weather, here in New England my lips often get chapped when the seasons change. Adding a little stain adds some color, while being able to put on some basic lip balm to keep my lips hydrated.
Long-Wear Lipstick
Of course lip stain isn’t everyones cup of tea, a fall staple is bold lips. I have a few favorite drugstore products with formulas that last quite awhile. Unless you eat something oily, it might break the lipstick formula down. My current favorite formula is the Maybelline Vinyl Lipsticks. The range has a large variety of shades, which have a pretty vinyl-like finish. Another awesome drugstore, option if you prefer matte lipstick is the Milani Stay Put Liquid Lipstick. Which has some beautiful fall shades to choose from. I’ve included some swatch videos of some of my favorite shades of the vinyl lipstick!
My Favorite Fall Lip
Of course classic red lips are perfect in fall, I need to mention one of my favorite shades. However I wanted to include this one separate, as it is just your standard stick lipstick. It doesn’t have the same long wear formula as liquid lipstick, so you may need to reapply. I absolutely love the Patrick Ta lipstick in shade she must be new, it’s such a bold shade of red lipstick.
I love popping on a lip liner when applying this one, it helps get a defined edge and give a base to the lipstick. The lip liner in shade Very Berry from the Huda beauty lip contour 2.0 pencil is a close match. Here is a video of the color paired with a simple eyeshadow look to match using a warm brown eye shadow palette.
Classic Brown Smokey Eye
Next I think the classic brown smoky eye look is so beautiful for many occasions. It matches most outfits, and can be completed with whatever brown shades you already have at home. All you need is one light shade of brown, a darker shade of brown. Gold or bronze eyeshadow all over the lid for some shimmer. Then a little bit of nude or white eyeshadow in the inner corner. You could finish the look there with some mascara, but I love to apply liquid liner to make the look pop. Pairing this look with a brown or pinky nude glossy lip is always super simple too. What would really be festive for this look is using one of Too Faced pumpkin spice palettes so you can be themed to have pumpkin pie for desert. Here is a smokey brown eyeshadow tutorial to use as a guide.
Soft Cut Crease
Another look I created recently, that would be perfect for Thanksgiving. Is this soft cut crease look using the Too Faced Better than chocolate eyeshadow palette. Here is a full in depth tutorial on how to recreate the look.
Warm Brown Eyeshadow w/ Full Face Makeup look
My next thanksgiving makeup look is just a simple soft warm brown eye look. The video below includes the entire face of makeup. With a cute thanksgiving fall themed outfit if I do say so myself.
My Most Worn Fall Makeup
My last thanksgiving makeup idea, is probably my most worn makeup look during the fall. It’s a very soft brown eyeshadow look with a super subtle pop of mint green, I love how the shades look together.
That concludes a list of Thanksgiving Makeup Ideas I hope you enjoyed the looks! Leave me a comment below with what you think you’ll be wearing!
