Looking for a soft, romantic makeup look with gorgeous rosy tones? In this Smokey rose eyeshadow tutorial, I’m using the Morphe Rose Frequency palette. Perfect for that soft glam moment. Whether it’s date night, girls’ night out, or just a fun way to feel extra glam.
How to Recreate This Smokey Rose Eyeshadow Tutorial
Step 1: Define the Outer V with “Loves Me Not”
For that lifted, sultry shape, I dipped into “Loves Me Not” from the Rose Frequency palette. Using (the Omnia BOM-430), I patted this shade on the outer corner of my eye, then swept it slightly upward toward the tail of my brow in a V-shape. This creates a soft wing effect that lifts the eyes. Take your time to blend the edges so this color looks diffused with no harsh lines.
Step 2: Brighten the Inner Corner with “Secret Garden”
Next, I wanted to open up and brighten the inner corners of my eyes. I used shade “Secret Garden” with the (Omnia BOM-416) and popped it right into the inner corner of my eyes. Gently feathering out the edges so it softly blends and fades into the surrounding areas. This light pink instantly brings some brightness into the look.
Step 3: Sweep “Pinkie Promise” on the Center Lid
For that pretty pop of rosy pink on the center of the lid, I used “Pinkie Promise”. With the 416 brush, I applied Pinkie Promise onto the center of my lid, right between the outer corner and inner corner eyeshadow shades. Gently feathering out the edges to have a soft blend, this is going to act like a background shade to our shimmers in a way. The goal is a seamless gradient from the outer corner to the inner corner.
Step 4: Add Dimension with ‘Tossed Bouquet’
To add even more dimension to the inner lid, I layered a bit of shade“Tossed Bouquet” on the inner portion of the lid. Using the same flat brush, slightly overlapping the Pinkie Promise shade. This shimmer really makes the look stand out and brings in some dimension.
Step 5: Layer More Shimmer with ‘XOXO’
What’s a glam look without the extra shimmer. Using the same flat brush again I picked up shade “XOXO” and swept it right onto the center of the lid. I used a light hand to softly feather out the edges into the surrounding areas for a seamless look.
Step 6: Tight-line with Black Liner (Morphe Bi-Liner in “Truth”)
To enhance my lash line and add some drama, I tight-lined my eyes using the Morphe Bi-Liner Dual-Ended Gel Pencil in “Truth or Dare”, specifically the black “Truth” end. Tightlining means applying liner to the upper waterline (the area underneath your upper lashes) this makes your lashes look fuller and your eyes more defined. I ran the pencil along my upper waterline and also on the lower waterline for more definition. This step instantly makes the eyes pop by filling in any gaps between lashes. I also flicked a itty bitty inner-corner wing with the same pencil.
Step 7: Smoke Out a Soft Wing with “Thorny Signals”
Now for that smokey winged liner look using eyeshadow, no steady hand required! I used “Thorny Signals” on an eyeliner brush (Omnia BOM-515). I used this shadow to line my upper lash line and create the wing in the outer corner. Starting at the inner corner, I patted Thorny Signals as if drawing on liner, slowly making my way across the lid. Gradually making the line thicker as I make my way across the lid. Once at the outer corner I created a wing following the upwards slope of my lower lash line connecting it back to the liner. Then with a shader paint brush from the craft store I smoked out the top edge of the line we just applied. The result is a diffused, beautiful smokey wing. With the BOM-515 again I applied a little bit of Thorny signals tight to the lower lash line and smoking that out as well with the flat shader brush
Step 8: Clean Up & Perfect the Wing
After doing all that blending, it’s nice to sharpen up our edges for a clean finish. I took a bit of my concealer on a flat concealer brush (an e.l.f. smudge brush works great) and cleaned up the edges of the outer corner wing and the inner corner wing and set with translucent powder.
Step 9: Finish with Lashes
Finally, it’s time to bring on the lashes! I curled my natural lashes and applied a generous coat of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof mascara. I applied two cluster lashes to the outer corner of my lashes.
