Today, I’m using the Makeup by Mario’s Ethereal Eyes Eyeshadow palette for my eye makeup look. I recently purchased this alongside a few other eyeshadow palettes from Sephora. I’ve never tried anything from the Makeup by Mario collection, so I was eager to try this palette out. It retails for $68 for 12 shades, which breaks down to about $5.60 per shadow. The color story isn’t anything crazy different, just classic shades great for everyday or sparkly going-out makeup looks.
I’ve been playing with these colors for a few weeks now and I really enjoy the formula. However, the shades are a little powdery, but tapping off my brush prior to application to the eyes, helped as I didn’t see any fallout on my cheek. The same goes for the texture of the shimmer colors. I did see a tiny bit of fallout with these shades however, but nothing crazy, tapping off my brush helped. I do love the finish of the shimmers; they have a super fine, glittery look. Using shade EE2 for today’s eye look, added such a pretty pop of shimmer. The shadows applied beautifully to the eyes and were easy to blend and smooth.
Today’s Makeup Look
I applied concealer as a base and set that in place with shade EE1 and a fluffy V204 brush* from Morphe for an even base.
Then, I used a Morphe V206* brush to apply the shade EE3 into the crease as well as the outer corner of the eye, softly blending the edges upwards towards the brow bone, to add depth to the crease.
I applied the shade EE4 with a Morphe V203 brush*, packing this color onto the outer corner of the upper lash line area and crease. After placing the color on, I focused on softly blending EE4 into EE3 using the V204 brush* again until the two had a soft transition.
Following this, I used a V200 brush* and applied shade EE1 into the inner corner of the eye for a pop of light, softly feathering this onto the lid a little bit.
For the lid, I applied shade EE2 with a V200 brush* all over the front portion and feathered it upwards onto the crease and surrounding areas, fading out the edges.
With a flat shader brush I purchased at the craft store in the paint brush department. I applied shade EE12 to the lash line using little side-to-side motions, applying it like eyeliner. Making the line thicker in the outer corner and thinner towards the inner corner using the brush side to create a thin line. Then, with my V206 brush*, I’m taking a bit more of EE12 and blending this into the outer corner and surrounding shades.
For the bottom lash line area, I used shade EE3 with a V200 brush* to blend this two-thirds of the way across towards the inner corner, blending down the bottom edge. To add a little bit of depth, I used shade EE12 and a V200* in the very outer corner of the lower lash line and blended this out.
To finish off the whole look, I added an inner corner wing with the Too Faced Better Than Sex Chocolate liner*, followed by curling my lashes and a coat of Jones Road Beauty Mascara*. I then followed it up with Velour Lashes in style Light & Fluffy*, which I trimmed down and applied to the underside of my lashes. My affiliate code with Velour is Ashley20 for 20% off.
I’ve included a YouTube tutorial that goes over the whole application process, which I’ve placed at the top of the post.
That completes today’s look using the Mario Ethereal Eyes Eyeshadow Palette. I hope you enjoyed the look. I have a few other eyeshadow palette-specific posts under the eyeshadow tab if you want to check those out next.
