It seems there is always a new aesthetic or trend circulating on TikTok and Instagram, which can fun to draw style inspiration from. Get inspired and try out a new look or style that could become your new favorite. The most recent trend that has caught my eye on social media is the mob wife aesthetic. It seems to be themed around the style of mob wives in classic gangster and mobster films/series, where they exude larger-than-life fashion and style.
Some essential elements include animal prints, faux fur coats, big hair, gold jewelry, and heavy makeup with smoky eyes. The aesthetic has captured my attention for both makeup and fashion inspiration and inspired me to try an eyeshadow look. This trend pulls from various areas and is open to interpretation, and inspiration.
I was inspired to create a sultry and easy mob wife look on the eyes, and I loved how it turned out. This look is very beginner-friendly and doesn’t necessarily have to be worn with the rest of the mob wife aesthetic.
The Eyeshadow Look
I could see this look being perfect for a night out or a party as it really draws attention while framing the eyes. I used some pink and brown in the crease to bring some warmth to the eyes. Then added black eyeshadow to the upper and lower lash-line creating a wing in the outer corner for a cat eye-like appearance. To top the look off, I tight-lined my eyes and added mascara and subtle false lashes.
This trend’s makeup reminds me a little bit of some of the 90s makeup styles, with the ombre nude lips and smokey eye makeup.
I filmed a whole YouTube tutorial on how to create this eyeshadow look; give it a watch to follow along step by step, and I’ll link the products below.

To complete the glam, I’d pair this eye look with an ombre nude lip or a dark bold red lipstick. Along with some bronzer and a light blush on the cheeks. Overall, this look is fairly simple; I think the main focus is on the eyes and lips.
I have a couple of favorites that I could see working well with the eyeshadow look. The first one is a nude lip with a dark brown lip liner for a little bit of an ombre look.

For a more dramatic lip, you can try out this matte deep red shade; it’s a fun option too.

For the little details, I’d opt for a classic 90s French manicure and some gold jewelry, including hoop earrings. As for a hairstyle, I think a gorgeous voluminous blowout or big soft waves would complement the look perfectly. Alternatively, a messy tousled updo could also work well. I’d love to see this look paired with an updo, a leopard-print dress, black high heels, and a black leather bag to finish the ensemble.
Social Media Trends
It’s interesting how trends and aesthetics evolve so rapidly on social media. Recently, we saw the rise of the clean girl aesthetic characterized by minimal makeup, dewy skin, and sleek hair. Now, we have the mob wife aesthetic, which is a stark contrast to the clean girl look.
I find it fun to experiment with different trends and incorporate them into my own aesthetic. Some other recent trends being the old money aesthetic, quiet luxury aesthetic, strawberry makeup, and the Latte makeup trend.
It’s true what they say about trends coming back into style. I’ve noticed a resurgence of 90s and early 2000s trends lately; it’s like an endless cycle of nostalgia. I’m curious to see what new trends will emerge, especially with the spring season approaching and the constant evolution of TikTok trends.
Are you considering trying out the mob wife trend drawing inspiration from different elements of the aesthetic? It’s always exciting to experiment with new looks in the makeup and fashion realm. I’m curious about what the next trend will be.
Pinterest trends can be a great source for discovering the latest trends in makeup and fashion. We all have our own unique sense of style, but if you decide to embrace any aspects of the mob wife era, let me know. That concludes todays post, I hope you enjoyed it!
