Looking for ideas for the best eye makeup with red lipstick? Check out this these 6 looks including tutorials.
Red lipstick is a really fun way to add a bold statement to your makeup look. Let your lips be the star of the show next date night with a bold red lip. However, I’ve found it’s important to have the perfect eye makeup look to pair with bold lips to really make the whole look shine.
For a well-balanced look, I typically apply my eyeshadow a little more subtle if I’m wearing a red lip shade, as I want that to be the main focus. Today, I’m covering 6 best eye makeup ideas to pair with red lipstick to give you inspiration for the next time you want to rock a red lipstick look.
First, it’s important to choose the perfect lipstick, as there really is an endless variety of options to choose from. Aside from just the textures and shades available, it really comes down to the undertones. Every lipstick is made up of cool, neutral, or warm tones, and within those tones, you can have a wide variety of shades to choose from.
The Perfect Shade
To find the most flattering best red lipstick shade for you, choose a red lipstick that matches your undertone and that works well on your skin tone. Once you have found the perfect shade of red lipstick for you, plan the rest of your look around that color. If you’re rocking a cool-toned red lipstick, opt for a cool-toned eye look, and if you’re wearing a warm-toned lipstick, wear a warm-toned eyeshadow look. With neutral shades, you can really test all 3 to find your perfect color, but really makeup has no rules so wear whatever shade you like best.
Look One
For our first look, this one has more neutral but a little warm eyeshadow shades. I used the Flower Knows 01 Edens Angel Palette to create this very classic eyeshadow look. I love this one for every day, but I think it also pairs very well with a neutral to warm red lipstick.
This one is super easy to apply and uses some browns in the outer corner for depth and some shimmers on the lid, and inner corner. It also features a half wing applied with eyeshadow to the upper lash line, that makes the lashes look a little thicker (which I love). I’ve included a YouTube video below with step-by-step instructions on how I created the look, and I’ve also linked all the products I used to create the look down below.
Look Two
Next, this very soft look has a similar appearance to our previous look but features some cool tones to match up with a cool lipstick. Just like our last look, I used some lighter shades and a brown shade in the outer corner and a less glittery shimmer shade on the lid. Then on the upper lash line, I use a darker brown to create a half wing. I applied a little bit of this shade to the lower lash line as well to really make the eyes stand out. I used the Natasha Denona I Need a Nude palette.

Look Three
On the topic of cool tones, here is another look using the same Natasha Denona palette for a more bold smokey eye makeup look. It’s a shimmery smoky eye featuring some pinky nude shades and grey shades from the Natasha Denona I Need a Nude palette. This look also features a tight lined waterline and a bold winged liner that really contours the shape of the eyes. This look is pretty simple to apply; I have a step-by-step tutorial on drawing on a winged eyeliner below if you want to check that out.

look four
Now let’s look at a bolder warm-toned look. I used the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes palette to create this blended brown glittery eyeshadow look. This would look lovely with a warm red lipstick for a glamour makeup look. It features some lovely browns in the crease of the eye and some gold shimmer shades on the lid.
The Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Palette was limited edition and is no longer available but any warm and golden shadows will work 🙂
Look Five
This next look would look great with strawberry lips if you want to add a little color in your eyeshadow look. I used some pink shades from the ND I Need a Nude palette to create this halo eyeshadow look with a subtle pop of shimmer. The look is overall very blended and easy to apply.
Look Six
Last but not least, I wanted to add in a classic black winged eyeliner makeup look to pair with a classic red lip. Not only is this an elegant look and really flattering, it’s also super simple and easy. I really enjoy adding a wash of my bronzer or a brown eyeshadow in my crease for some color. I’ll apply a nude or white eyeshadow in the inner corner and the front portion of the lid to open up the eyes. Then I’ll just go in with the cat eye winged eyeliner; I like to use a bold liquid liner or a black eyeshadow to apply this. I just created a whole post on how I draw on my winged eyeliner; I’ll link that here. However, I’ll include the video tutorial here as well.
