Eyeshadow is a fun and easy way to experiment with vibrant colors and creative shapes for a unique makeup look. You can incorporate colorful liquid eyeliner, bold hues, glitter, and various shapes and shading techniques. I want to share 10 creative eyeshadow looks to inspire you and provide ideas to experiment with in your makeup routine. Each look is accompanied by a video tutorial.
Look One
Look number one incorporates a ombre winged liner using a blue eyeliner and white eyeliner, blending the two shades where they meet. To start the look, apply a brown liquid shadow all over the lid, blending the edges to add some warmth to the eyes. Following this, pat on a bit of shimmer on the brown to match the upcoming blue liner, add a highlight shade to the inner corner of the eye. To begin the liner, draw just the tail end of the wing in the outer corner of the eyes, extending it to the end of the eye. With the blue liner, line your upper lash line, making the line thinner towards the inner corner and thicker in the outer corner, bringing it up to the white eyeliner. Once the two liners are connected, blend the two shades with a little blue shadow, using a flat shader brush with small side-to-side motions, being careful not to overwhelm the white. To complete the look, add an inner corner wing, some mascara, and false lashes, and that’s it.
Look Two
Next on the list of fun eye makeup ideas is this bold look featuring forest green-toned graphic eyeliner. The base of the look is fairly simple; I used some browns in the outer corner, a yellow shimmery color on the majority of the lid, and a highlight shade in the inner corner. Since I used an eyeliner pencil for the graphic liner in this look, I’d recommend ensuring it’s as sharp as possible for the sharp line portion.
To begin, line your upper lash line like normal and keep the line thinner towards the inner corner and thicker towards the outer corner. For the graphic liner portion, swoop the eyeliner upwards following the upward slope of the lower lash line, but then pull it inwards following the natural contour of the crease. I like to draw these lines in with little strokes to try and keep mistakes to a minimum; this is where I might sharpen my pencil again if I need to refine any lines. Tight line the eyes with the green shade and add a black inner corner wing. I have a whole blog post about drawing in an inner corner wing if you want to check that post out.
Look Three
For look three, this features some bright, colorful eyeshadows. If you would like a full, in-depth video tutorial and post about this look, I shared a whole blog post where I went in-depth, including a YouTube tutorial at the top of the post.
To start the look, apply a pink cream shadow all over the outer half of the lid and lower lash line, then blend out all the edges. For the front portion of the lid, apply a soft orange shade, pulling it around into the inner corner as well, creating a backward C shape for a pop of color. On the center of the lid where the two colors meet, apply a red shimmery color with a bit of setting spray on the brush, feathering the edges a bit but keeping the concentration of the color on the center of the lid.
Use brown eyeliner and create a half wing in the outer corner, and tightline the eyes with this. To finish the look off, add a black eyeliner for an inner corner wing, mascara, and a set of false lashes.
Look Four
Up next on the list of creative makeup ideas for a pop of color, this look features some beautiful shades of green. I love this look for St. Patrick’s Day. The look starts with a taupe-like shade in the outer corner/lower lash line for a transition shade. Followed by a beautiful shimmery green all over the front portion of the lid, feather this shade a bit into the crease of your eyelid. For the inner corner, apply a bright greenish-yellow type shade and pull this onto the front portion of the lower lash line, softly blending the edges with little feathering motions. Apply a dark grayish-black shadow onto the lash line of the outer corners of your eyes, lightly blending the shade up and out. Complete the look with a brown inner corner wing, mascara, and false lashes.
Look Five
Let’s play with some bright colors next; experimenting with different colors for winged eyeliner with eyeshadow is a great way to amp up your look. For this next look, I created a magenta and blue ombre liner.
To start the look, add a pink cream shadow or powder pink shadow all over the lid and up into the crease, blending towards the brow bone. With an angled brush, apply a blue shade as eyeliner to the front portion of the lid, making the line thinner towards the inner corner and thicker as you make your way towards the outer corner. Stop this shade about two-thirds of the way across the lid, then switch to the pink shade to complete the wing and the rest of the liner. Use whatever is left on the brush to blend the pink and blue in the center.
To tie the whole look together, add an inner corner wing to add some dimension to the eyes using a liquid liner. I have a whole post listing some of my favorites that stay best in the inner corner. Complete the look with some mascara and false eyelashes.
Look Six
A fun and creative look that would be perfect for date night: a classic smokey eye with a lovely pop of navy blue liner. Start with a gunmetal silver cream eyeshadow all over the entire lid and blend out the edges. Apply a nude white shade to the inner corner of the eye and a darker grey eyeshadow on the outer corner of the eye/lower lash line, blending the edges. Draw on an inner corner wing with black eyeliner, line the upper lash line with navy blue liner, just like our other looks, keeping the line thinner towards the inner corner and thicker towards the outer corner. Line the lower lash line about one-third of the way in, lightly smudging with the smudge tip on the other end of the eyeliner. To finish the look, add in some mascara and false lashes.
Look Seven
For this next look, it’s very much a soft glam makeup look with a fun pop of green liquid eyeliner, which can always be swapped out with a new shade to make your eyes pop.
To begin, apply brown to the outer corner, and a shimmery shade on the center of the eyelid and the first brown on the outer half of the lower lash line. With a gunmetal liquid liner, add an inner corner wing liner and line the first half of the upper eyelid. With a green liquid liner, draw on the remaining portion of a winged liner and line the lower lash line with a green pencil liner. Tight line the eyes and lining two-thirds of the way in below the lash line, smudging with tail end of the liner pencil. Top the look off with mascara and false lashes.
Look Eight
For another cool makeup look, we have this very glittery eyeshadow look with a wing made of reddish-brown eyeliner. To start the look, apply a liquid, glittery golden shadow all over the front two-thirds portion of the lid. Blend out the edges, and apply an orange-brown shade onto the outer corner to add depth. With a lighter shade of orange-brown, apply this to the outer one-third of the lower lash line. Using the reddish-brown liner, draw on a half wing on the outer two-thirds of the upper lash line. Add an inner corner wing with a brown liquid liner. Of course, finish the look off with a pair of false lashes and mascara.
Look Nine
For the last of the creative eye makeup looks, we have this soft glam with fun pops of purple eyeliner. Start by applying a soft brown eyeshadow into the crease and outer corner, as well as the lower lash line. To add depth, apply a darker brown shade into the outer corner and the lower lash line, then a matte light pink on the remainder of the lid. Brush a light nude shade into the inner corner, and line the upper lash line with a pencil purple liner. Apply a little more of the purple pencil liner on the outer one-third of the lower lash line and the inner one-fourth of the lower lash line. Use a black pencil liner to tight line the eyes, blending out the lower lash line with a dark purple eyeshadow. Complete the look by drawing on a black inner corner wing, with a coat of mascara and a pair of false lashes.
