Look One
For the first lipstick, this is the L’Oréal Colour Riche lipstick in shade 213 Le Plum Dominant*. It’s a beautiful burgundy shade with a matte finish.
I really enjoyed the formula on this, although no matte lipstick seems to be hydrating, this felt smooth on the lips and didn’t dry them out. The formula is not transfer-proof or smudge-proof but stays put really well. It lasted well for me through some snacks during the day, but certain foods or drinks may wear it down.
The applicator itself is thin and precise, which I really enjoyed. I did go in with a brush to be extra precise. Not only is the small applicator nice for application, but this can also fit in a small bag very easily or even your pocket.
The pigmentation on this lipstick was also fantastic; sometimes darker shades can be patchy, but I really liked how even this went onto the lips.
Look Two
Lipstick number two is a bright classic red lip; this one is so fun and vibrant. The shade is “Bowl of Cherries” from Beauty Bakerie in their matte lip whip* formula.
This is a long-wear lipstick with a matte finish; its formula is liquid and then dries down to the matte finish. The matte lip whips stay put so well they even sell a lip whip remover.
When it comes to liquid-to-matte lipsticks, I know some of them can feel drying for me, including this one. So typically, for this reason, I try to ensure I keep my lips hydrated prior to application and after application. I try to keep my water intake up and apply a lip mask at night; this way, my lips are soft the next day. Otherwise, it’s not uncomfortable to wear; it’s just not hydrating. It’s perfect if you need something to last all day with no touch-ups.
Once this lipstick is on, it will stay put, but if you apply a gloss on top, it may disrupt the real stay power of this formula.
Look Three
Last but not least, we have the Too Faced Lady Bold Lipstick in the shade Rebel*. This is described as a Warm Crimson Burgundy on the Too Faced website. I love this color; on me, I feel like it almost has a subtle berry tone.
The formula on this feels smooth and creamy, and it goes on very pigmented. I also really liked the applicator; it has a sharper point which made it nice to get up close to the edges of the lips. Of course, this wears down with use, but I love using a brush to clean up the edges of darker colors anyway. I’ve really been liking the Real Techniques fine liner brush.
This lipstick doesn’t dry down, so it isn’t smudge or transfer-proof but does stay put pretty well. I found eating and drinking slowly break it down as the day goes on, but it felt like it held up pretty well for a stick lipstick.
Out of the three shades I’ve shared, which do you think was your favorite? Is red lipstick something you wear on a daily basis or on special occasions.
