Looking for a fun edgy black lipstick looks? Check out these two lipstick looks I created utilizing black lipstick. Since black isn’t on the color wheel and is a shade it can really pair well with every skin tone and is a fun way to create an edgy makeup look.
For our first look, I used a black liquid lipstick as a base and a fun holographic gloss. I applied Queen Cosmetics Gloss in the shade Black Widow*, which has a black undertone to the gloss.
Using black as a base can really make your lip glosses stand out and look totally different than they would on top of your regular lip color. The black liquid lipstick I used is the Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whip in the shade Midnight Truffles*. It is a super intense, pigmented matte liquid lipstick, and the formula stays put extremely well without budging. Beauty Bakerie even sells a lip whip remover because the formula stays put so well. I should note that this formula can feel a little drying on the lips, but I tend to feel this way about most long-wear lipsticks. When you apply the gloss on top, it makes the lipstick no longer transfer-proof, and it may not last as long. Queen Cosmetics offers a variety of other fun, glittery glosses that you can experiment with to create different looks.
Look number two features a black and red ombre lipstick with a glittery red gloss on top, creating a fun and edgy look that would be so cool for the Holiday Season. To begin, I outlined the edges of my lips using Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whip in Shade Midnight Truffles* and blended the edges with a brush to eliminate any harsh lines. For the center of the lips, I applied Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whip in shade Mon Cheri*, using a brush to blend the edges seamlessly into the black lipstick. After allowing it some time to dry, I added Kaleidos Makeup Glossy Lip Glaze in the shade Penthouse* on top of everything. This adds a beautiful glittery gloss to the lips, making the center of your lips stand out with the red glitter in the gloss.
